Vail

This report is based on one day at Vail, and I’m sure some locals would not really agree. I’ll come back one day and make sure to know more about the mountain and the endless amount of local secrets.

It’s huge and it’s expensive. Everything is expensive except for Starbucks.

First you have to park your […]

Telluride

This mountain is much better than I expected. It provides good stuff for any kind of skier. The Mountain Village is rather flat and perfect for beginner or intermediate skier. That was also the area with the most skiers. Lines are never longer than 2min. All the advanced or expert stuff was very quiet […]

Steamboat

Another day with rock solid hard-packed snow in the morning followed by some soft stuff depending on the exposure. However, I had to explore the whole mountain regardless of the snow. Some steep but short spots but no real long steep runs. A busy base area and a quiet back side (most likely because […]

Snowmass

This resort is much bigger than the other Aspen resorts but it was also a bit busier. Lines were generally between 2-5min and twice up to 10min. Many high-speed quads and one six pack. 4,400 vertical is more than many other resorts have to offer.

Big, flat, and steep, fast and a bit busy; the […]

Crested Butte

Once again, a great mountain for everyone. Great grooming (big beginner area) and endless amount of off-piste. They have single blacks, double blacks, and EX- double blacks, which means Expert-double black. The Ex doubles are really some of the best I have seen in a while (just like Kicking Horse). The “Extreme Limits” 448 […]

Copper Mountain

How nice it was to sit on a high-speed 6-passenger chair that brings you within 8 min of the top and 2400’ vertical. All major chairs are high-speed, and this gives you the chance to ski vertical like crazy.

Excellent tree skiing. We had fresh tracks all day as the powder competition did not exist, […]

Buttermilk

I did ski this resort the same day I skied Aspen Highland so I had 1h 15min to go and that was just good enough to ski Buttermilk. One very long high-speed quad will bring you to the top and from there green and blue runs all the way down. 2,000 vertical feet.

My opinion: […]

Beaver Creek

During the morning hours, we had hard packed and icy conditions. The man-made areas especially are more like a glacier. Nevertheless, it was not too bad at all, just the not groomed stuff. Had to wait until about lunch time for that.

Report is based on one day of skiing with spring-like conditions. Some tree […]

Aspen Mountain

I kind of like this mountain. Nice steep spots but also some flat parts you have to take again and again. At first no lines at all; then around 10 AM we had to wait for about 3min and the locals already started to complain. Next time a 7min line was almost too much […]

Aspen Highlands

Another great Mountain. U$82 lift ticket!! (2008). It is not very big but has great vertical and so many double black runs. There are only 3 high-speed quads and some slow ones but that’s good enough.

Deep Temerity Chair has only double black runs and they are all steep with no flat spot on the […]
