With only 20 cm of new snow reported this morning our expectations weren’t super high. After our first run however we all knew that Cortina was going to give us yet another prime day. The turns were bottomless and fast, for sure it felt more like 40cm of fresh. We did hear the word […]
Another exceptional powder day at Hakuba Cortina. The resort reported 35cm of fresh snow after heavy snowfalls overnight, once again it was underrated with knee to thigh depth from the 3 days of new snow with a low crowds for a Sunday. The snow was deeper but heavier than the last two days, perhaps […]
Happy Valentine’s Day Snow Lovers! The Cortina morning report read 30cm of fresh snow overnight, however coupled with the snow storm yesterday was around the 40-50cm depth. It was a busy day out on the mountain and the powder fans got what they came for with knee to thigh deep snow throughout the resort. […]
After an underwhelming morning of 10cm of dust on sun crust, the Hakuba snow machine kicked into gear by lunchtime. Heavy snow fall all day at a 3-5cm/hr rate. The afternoon powder conditions were excellent with 30-50cm of powder underfoot, consistent knee deep depth with plenty of face shots. The quality is cold and […]
No Friends on a Pizza Day
It’s no secret when the pizza is good, competition will be high. Fresh toppings greeted us from an evening storm, and it was time to go mustache deep. Turns were good on all aspects, occasionally with a bit of crust on low, southerly aspects. Everyone that pursued the cheddar […]
Skiing at Cortina today was like visiting an old friend you haven’t seen in a while. It was instant joy. There was no wasting time getting to know one another. We dove in as soon as Chair 4 opened and Cortina delivered as it usually does. The storm last night deposited more than 20 […]
Today was a throwback to the old Cortina. Blower pow, but without the crowds. Untracked laps into the late afternoon. Casually moving from zone to zone without a worry in the world. Yep. It’s a good life for some.
Cloudy skies and chilly winds kept the snow cold on all aspects throughout the day. […]
36 hours of nuking snow. Followed by a Sunday morning with clearing skies. Yep. Sounds like a Cortina day. Today was special though. For the first time in Cortina pow shredding history, lift opening times were coordinated to provide a seamless transition from the base to the top for the early risers. Hopefully this […]
Cortina reported 10cms of new snow overnight. By the time we started at 9:30am, it was much deeper. I’d guess that there were around 25cms of new snow right under the chairlifts. Off chair 5, it was more like 40cms of new snow. By the time Cortina closes today, it’ll be even deeper.
It wasn’t […]
Today was the Anna Kornikova of skiing. Great to look at, but the play left a lot to be desired. Once again there were a few centimeters of fresh at Cortina today. Our expectations were low but we geared up and enjoyed a beautiful sunny morning, no lift lines and found plenty of hidden […]
