Alagna

I am sure this resort is heaven midwinter, and if you get great spring-skiing conditions. We had a day of rock-hard spring snow, and any off-piste skiing was a rather big challenge. I could see many steep and very steep areas, and the free-riding potential is absolutely fantastic.

This report is based on a one-day […]

Neuss Jever Snowdome

For heaven’s sake, this is short! 300m (900 feet) is so short after skiing the 640m of Bottrop. However, the snow quality and the light are much better. 2nd best snow of the 4 snowdomes we skied that day.

Very nice to […]

Bottrop Snowdome

We arrived at Bottop just after 9am and got ready for skiing while it was about 18C (66F) outside. 640m (1920 feet) sounds like a long run, but it doesn’t feel long. First, it is rather flat and in addition to that, the snow is sticky. The light should be much better as well. […]

Les 2 Alpes

We only had one day at this resort. It was late season, but with great fresh powder on the upper mountain. Absolutely great off-piste runs. Steep areas, lots of groomed intermediate and advanced runs. We did not have the time to ski all of it, but I’m sure it will keep you busy for […]

La Grave

Absolutely no go for beginners! Heaven on earth for advanced and experts. They don’t have any grooming, which makes it very special. If you hit the resort midwinter, you can ski over 2,000 vertical meters (over 6,600 feet). Even if the lower part is closed, you can ski 1,600 vertical meters (about 5,000 feet). […]

L’Alpe d’Huez

Based on only one day of skiing on pretty solid frozen spring snow, we probably got the wrong impression. In addition, the top part of the mountain was closed due to heavy wind. In the afternoon, we finally got some nice spring corn and even found some amazing runs. I will definitely have to […]

Peer Snowdome – Snow Valley

Most boring, most unmotivated staff, terrible and slow lift system, and miserable sound system, but the best snow, and the hourly rate is great, too.

August ‘07: Part of the“4 Snowdomes in 3 Countries plus Water-ski in One Day”.

Another good thing about this snowdome is the second hall, where you will find a terrain park—really […]

Warth

During a great free-riding day at Lech, we decided to traverse to Warth and do a little touring. At the end, you get back to Lech, but it includes some hiking, long traversing, and you have to pay extra to use the lifts in Warth, as the Arlberg day pass is not valid there.

I […]

Stuben

The Arlberg region is probably described on a thousand Web sites so, I will keep my review short and simple.

DON’T MISS IT! Absolutely a must-go area. Big, lots of off-piste. A book, Abseits der Piste rund um den Arlberg, describes a number of off-piste skiing. This region will keep you busy for days or […]
